Installation Issue

Sorry not sure where to XAMPP I am loking via phpmyAdmin

Sorry, should have been more clear..

XAMPP is just a local server install that we use which comes bundled with webserver, database, etc etc including phpmyadmin

Those screenshots are from phpmyadmin. The first shows that it's in the mysql -> user table

The second shows the double setting of 127.0.0.1/localhost

I have to admit that MySQL is not one of my areas of expertise but I think we have narrowed this recent problem down to the permissions on the database that you have created... will ask around for further help...

I suspect the server isn't called localhost, or maybe the ports are blocked. Is there any other web based tools using localhost?

Does http://localhost/phpmyadmin/

Others do yes and he gets past the connection to the host

its the connection to the actual database in mysql that is failing
