Just to clarify. If I use the page link code
<a href="asfunction:_level0.engine.rootIcon.pageLink,PG1381168464016">This page</a>
and press the publish button no changes are saved.
If I remove the ":" and enter this code
<a href="asfunction_level0.engine.rootIcon.pageLink,PG1381168464016">This page</a>
and press the publish button the changes are saved and I see a link "This page" in my preview (although the link obviously doesn't: work error 404)

Is there any documentation explaining how I would go about updating our install to a later build?
I notice in PHPmyAdmin I have 2 errors under Routines

The $cfg directive MUST be set in your configuration file!

You are using PHP's deprecated 'mysql' extension, which is not capable of handling multi queries. The execution of some stored routines may fail! Please use the improved 'mysqli' extension to avoid any problems.

Might this be a cause of the problem?

No, that can't be the cause of the issue. It's a warning regarding only phpMyAdmin.

Hold off upgrading just now as i'm not 100% sure that will fix anything...

If you take everything out and type a word, any word then does it save?

If so then add a : after the word - does that save?

If it does then try replacing the word: with asfunction: - does that save?

What system are you running it on? Linux (which one) or IIS (which windows version)?

Its a strange one as i'm not seeing any issues with colons on any server or instance of Xerte that I have running, Linux or Windows IIS...

I think the other think to do is to login to your Xerte in Google Chrome, edit your LO and navigate to the page causing the problems.

Press F12 to open the developer console. Go to to network Tab.

Return to the Xerte editor and press "Publish"

In the Network tab you should see the save.php URL appear and the POST method and 200 status. Is that what you get with both the : in and with no colon in?

Click on save.php that appears WITH the colon in - click the "Headers" tab and go to filedata. Are you able to post that filedata here so that I can examine it?

I'm not sure I understood this right. I couldn't find a save.php with either the colon in the code or not. I've attached screen shots. I have also attached csv files of all the files that came up in the network tab as well as the code for the preview.php and some screenshots. I realise that wasn't what you are looking for but maybe you can point me to what Im missing. Thank you for all the help.
