Wiki: Assistants and AI in Release 3.15

We are pleased to confirm that the Xerte wiki has now been updated to provide guidance on the Assistants and AI features which were added in Release 3.15.  These features save you time by;

• creating texts and tasks according to the parameters you set (e.g. topic length, style, reading level)
• searching for suitable royalty-free images
• providing a Quick-Fill  tool to create templates for multiple sub-pages and items within a project, according to your parameters, which saves you repetitive sequences of keystrokes.

On installation, these features can be customised in the Administrator Area, so that if you work in an institution, some of the features described in the wiki may not be available to you. In this case you should ask your institution’s Xerte administrators for guidance.

If you use the wiki regularly, then understanding how the guidance on Assistants and AI is organised should be fairly intuitive.    There are wiki pages on each of the 3 sets of tools;

• AI Assistant
• Quick Fill
• Image Search and Help Tool

The availability of these tools and the way they work varies from one XOT page to another, so there is also information on page-specific features on every wiki page in the Page Types area, located between the tables on core properties and on optional properties.  

There are also wiki pages; 

• on Base AI Generation settings and AI Context Management , set at project level, and applied to the whole project
• which collect all the page-specific AI Assistant guidance, where this follows or departs from norms
• listing the XOT pages which support each of the 3 sets of tools. 

There are also two Bootstraps on Assistants and AI;

• an admin guide aimed at Xerte administrators and those providing back-end support, covering ethical, financial, technical and organisational issues
• a collection of   video screen captures demonstrating the Assistant and AI features being used by an author (there is no audio for these videos).

Updating the wiki to include information on Assistants and AI has been a large-scale project for the Xerte Documentation team. Special mention must go to Alek Nasev who wrote almost all the content that needed to be added to the wiki pages.
