Creating Projects - cannot Insert werd gestart door chris.walsh
I have just installed xerte (XOT 2.0) into our moodle platform and got authentication integrated with moodle (version 2.5; Build: 20130514).

I am not familiar with the operation of XOT, however when I create a new project (Xerte Online Toolkit or a Bootstrap Template) I get a popup but the Insert button along with most other buttons are disabled and I cannot insert content.

I notice that the USER-FILES folder remains empty (readme.txt excepted), as is the error_logs folder.
Is this expected? Could I have a permissions issue?
Any help to diagnose the problem would be appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Chris

Further to my issue above, could the problem be file path related?
I am running xerte/moodle on an Apache Server on a Windows Server OS but the Toolkit Guide PDF assumes linux and paths are linux formatted as a result.

Based on the Windows OS, should my integration_config_path be written as:
a) /Apache24/htdocs/.../moodle/config.php
b) C:/Apache24/htdocs/.../moodle/config.php
c) C:\Apache24\htdocs\...\moodle\config.php

(the '...' is a subfolder that roots into our apache website)

Similar, I have this as my root_file_path:
C:\Apache24\htdocs\...\moodle\xertetoolkits
and import_path as:
C:\Apache24\htdocs\...\moodle\xertetoolkits\import

I guess what I am asking is:
a) Does xerte fuss over which path separator to use on a Windows OS?
b) Does xerte require a trailing slash on root_file_path and import_path settings?
c) Should the drive specifier (C:) exist or be removed under a Windows OS?

Thanks,
Chris

The safest is to include the drive letter, and use forward slashes.

Backslashes should work as well, if we programmers did a good job. I don't know by heart if we escape the backslashes properly in the code. Apparently for the moodle config path it's working ok, otherwise the authentication wouldn't have worked.

But to be on the safe side, use forward slashes for now.

So:

a. It shouldn't but to be on the safe side use '/'
b. Trailing slash is required
c. Include the drive letter

Thanks for the reply on the path formatting. I have applied this consistently. It is assuring to know that I am setting these values correctly. Configuration/Authentication appears to still work fine.

My original problem stands regarding the inability to built content after creating the initial Project (insert button disabled for example). Any help/advise in this area will be most appreciated.

Chris.

Then you should verify whether USER-FILES is writable for the account that is running the Apache server.

I have already checked that and explicitly added "Everyone" to have "Modify" (read/write) permissions to the "USER-FILES" folder. I don't know how I can test that any further.
