"Session ID not set" Issue

I'm working on OS X (10.6..
Problem occurs on Safari (5.1.9) and Firefox (22). Logging out and logging back in again fixes the problems (most times, possibly needed to be done twice on one or two occasions).

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you about this... I've been looking into this and your other post about not being able to upload media but can't seem to see anything 'wrong' with the PHP settings that would cause it - I definitely think it's sessions related but the session settings look ok, although your mac could have cleanup settings that potentially could clearout the sessions when it's doing a tidyup, although this is not very probable and a stab in the dark...

There have been issues reported with Safari sessions and there is a link to Firefox sessions given that there is an existing problem in the Flash world, known as the Flash Cookie Bug where the session cookie isn't passed along with the posted data when the media is uploaded to the server (only in Safari/Firefox though) which causes the session check to bomb out... I thought I had fixed this though (long before that revision) so it may not be this... but the only way to prove it would be for you to install Chrome and try using that (since IE isn't available for Mac anymore) - not sure whether you are happy to do this though...

If it is Mac Apache Server related though then your best bet (and the one we recommend for running locally) is to use XAMPP. We use this locally for testing/developing and it is very reliable with Xerte. It provides MySQL and a webserver and has a fast installer built into Xerte. You will have to turn off the Mac Apache Webserver to use XAMPP though as they use the same ports (and possibly Skype while using XAMPP too).

Let me know what you intend to try and we'll provide you with support to get past this blip.

Thanks for the help.
File upload works from Chrome, but not from Firefox or Safari.
However, I sill don't seem to be able to insert an uploaded image into an object. I'm starting to think I'm doing something wrong. Is there a simple video somewhere of how to insert a graphic (e.g. jpeg) into an object?

Embedding media served from elsewhere works OK, so it looks that that will have to be my workaround

Hmm so it definitely seems to be directly related to the cookie bug but the fix should be taking care of it - i don't see the problem on my mac although xerte is on a server and not running locally... let me test it again when i get into my office...

As for inserting media into an lo. if a picture has uploaded successfully then you should get a preview of it when you press the little magnifier button. If that isn't happening then its not been uploaded successfully...

Can you also try the Media and Quota tab in the properties for the LO in Chrome. if media has been successfully uploaded then it should be listed there and you shouldn't be getting that error message that you were getting.
