Hi,

I am new to Xerte and find it a wonderful software. I was able to install it in my website, and it is working without any problems. However, sometimes, I get an error "Session ID not set" when I try to create or edit learning objects. I do not have much experience in PHP programming. Hence, it would be helpful if anybody could guide me to solve this problem. I am attaching a screenshot of the error with this post.

Thanks,
Jaimon Jacob

Hi Jaimon,

That message is normal (although not the most informative) and happens when your session cookie (which is used to track your current session between pages) has expired through a period of inactivity.

Is this when you are seeing this message? Or are you seeing it straight away when you create a new or edit an existing object?

Regards,

John

Hi John,

Thanks for the fast response. It does not happen after a period of inactivity. It happens when I log in and try to create a project or open an existing project.

Thanks,
Jaimon

Hi,

Ah, when you said "sometimes" if assumed it wasn't happening every time you edit or preview. In that case however it sounds like your cookies are not working as they should. What browser are you using? Can you try a different one?

Alternatively, try following the instructions here www.wikihow.com/Enable-Cookies-in-Your-Internet-Web-Browser to ensure cookies are enabled in your browser.

If that doesn't fix it then sessions could be turned off server side I suppose. Check your web hosts' documentation or your phpinfo() to see if session.use_cookies is set to 0...

Regards

John

Hi John,

Again, thanks for the response. As i said, I am not a PHP programmer, but I checked the PHP config in my web host, and it says
session.use_cookies On
session.use_only_cookies On
session.use_trans_sid 0

Is it the same thing that you are referring to?

Thanks,
Jaimon

Ok so it's probably not the server, did you manage to try a different browser? What browser were you using?

Also, did you try the instructions for enabling session cookies client-side?

Regards,

John
