Is there a way to change the style of the Menu connector page buttons or solid grey is the only option? Would be nice if we could add some transparency to it.

Hi
add a styles optional property and try something like the following:

.x_connectorMenu_page #subMenuItems .subMenuItem {
/*remove the background image used in some themes*/
background:unset;
/*set the background color complete with alpha value*/
background-color: #0000001f;
/*change the font color if needed*/
color:#000000;
}

Change the colour values to suit your theme/page background.
Use the browser inspector to try different css values.
