database connection problem when installing

Hello,
I'm trying to install the latest version of xerte toolkits and
I've run the installer but keep getting an installation error
SQLSTATE[HY000] [2013] Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 61
(running on mamp with version php5.2)

I've installed using a default Xampp Setup. Works a treat.

Your PHP version looks a bit old. Would suggest updating your Mamp install then try again.
