Does Xerte Online Toolkit work with shibboleth?

Hello,

Does anyone have any step-by-step instructions (or pointers) on getting a XOT installation (2.1) working with Shibboleth?

One of the things we'd like is that when a user logs in they only see the folders they've created. Is that possible?

firstly if at the moment when your users login they don't only see their own folders and projects then there is either something wrong with your installation or you are using the default guest authentication - e.g. unauthenticated and no prompt to login? Look at auth_config.php for the relevant option to comment/uncomment.

Personally I would upgrade to version 3 first before following any of that. Not just because of this but because there are so many benefits afforded by version 3 and no real reasons not to upgrade that there simply isn't any reason to stick with 2.1.

Thanks Ron, I've tweaked the auth_config.php so that it's not the Guest account anymore and am now looking at upgrading XOT 2.1 to 3 (as you were saying for various features and Shib support). Where's the best place in your opinion to look for instructions/tips on how to upgrade?

Hi Ron,

I just wanted to say thanks for all your help and advice and pointing me in the right direction for upgrading Xerte (to 3 from 2.1) and for integrating it with Shibboleth. In the end, I did the upgrade and the Xerte site here at Oxford looks loads better/fresher and I also hooked it up to Webauth (rather than Shibboleth but they are very similar) which the Shib guide you pointed was some help in. So thanks!

thanks for the thanks! Glad you got it working. Of course that's a thanks to the whole Xerte Development Team too!
Don't forget to upgrade to 3.1 now too. Not loads of changes but some key new features that are well worth having!
