How to test a SCORM 1.2 compliant package

Hi all,

I exported a learning object to SCORM 1.2 compliant package through the properties window. My question is how can I test the package to be sure it’s going to work in any other LMS? I’m using XOT v2.1.

I Know it has been a while since your post, however have you tried Scormplayer, this works really well when testing Scorm 1.2 packages. I've added the link below:

The definitive test is the free runtime supplied by ADL.

Another good option is SCORMcloud, a testing environment for SCORM packages. It requires registration, but otherwise it is free.

However, this only tells you whther the package is compliant. It should work in any SCORM compliant LMS, but I know for a fact that is doesn't always do so.

sorry to bother you, I am having a few issues and wonder if you could help. I tried SCORM cloud and the scorm package i created using xerte worked fine, but when uploading to moodle I unfortunately got this message below:

Incorrect file package - missing imsmanifest.xml or AICC structure

Is xerte compatible with moodle? or have i messed up somewhere? I'd really appreciate it if you could point me in the write direction. I really want too get xerte scorm packages up and running, it's great software!

What version of Moodle are you using and how did you import the Xerte zip?
If it's Moodle 2.2 or later I would suggest exporting from Xerte as SCORM 2004 3rd ed rather than 1.2 which should work fine and gives a better breakdown of page views etc. Obviously then import to Moodle by adding a SCORM activity not any of the other options.

thank you for the speedy reply, I followed your instructions and it still came up with the same message. I saved it anyway and when i tried it, it worked brilliantly. I uploaded it again in another section to confirm the process and this next time the message didn't show. I thought that was odd, so I tried the SCORM 1.2 package again just to prove that there was an issue, expecting the message to come up again, and it didn't! So I pressed save and tried the 1.2 package and it worked as well! I am a little confused by this sudden disappearance of the issue, but I am very grateful for your help resolving it.
For your info, it is moodle 2.8.1 and I imported the SCORM packages by uploading rather than drag and drop.
You recommend SCORM 2004, should I stick with this then, now that it seems that both are working?
