Unable to get Apache to start on my PC

Can anyone advise me on how to install Xerte

I have tried to install Xerte onto my local PC but I am finding that in the installation instructions appear out of date.
Do you know if the software has to be installed onto a server or can it be installed onto 1 PC.

I’m getting a number of problems:

1. I can’t get Apache to start, please see attachment showing the error

2. when I try to start a web browser https://localhost/xertetoolkits/setup as per page 14 of the installation guide - I get a 404 error page.

I’ve downloaded the Xerte Online Toolkits Installation Guide updated April 2013 by TomReijnders, is this the right one?

The guide should still be good.

You get the 404 error because apache doesn't start. Most likely, you have skype running, which conflicts with the standard configuration of apache.

Did you try to follow the suggestion, i.e. look in the logs?
