mySQL error after restart

Hello,

So, I've been running XXAMP and using Xerte to create my RLO for the last week with no problems. Then yesterday I restarted my computer. Now when I open XXAMP Application Manager, it says that mySQL database is not running and if I try and start it, nothing happens. I can't access Xerte and I think this must be why. How do I fix this?

If anyone else has this problem, I was completely unable to fix it so had to reinstall Apache. I lost all my work. There's probably a way not to lose all the work, but I'd only just started so didn't really try that hard to rescue it.
