Sound option for Graphics and Sound

Just to ask if there is a reason why 'Sound' is an optional property in Graphics and Sound rather than default?

Although the page name includes the reference to sound adding sound is optional rather than required for the page to display e.g. you don't have to add sound.
Also some of the page type names also date back to very early versions and the Flash player and we always try to maintain backwards compatibility with existing projects so some page names and types remain the same even and available even if the newer wysiwyg editor makes some redundant to a certain extent.
