Hi
Here is a link to a website I’ve created for people using Xerte to author e-learning materials for language education. I come from an EFL and EAP background, and have been using Xerte for many years to teach English grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, listening, and other language and study skills. I have been working on the Xerte wiki over the last 2 years, but this website is a personal initiative.
languagehub.uk/xerteforlanguagelearning
The website is aimed at academic staff who may have no specialist IT skills or knowledge. If you can word-process, manage folders and files, work within a VLE/LMS, you should have few problems following explanations or guides on the website. I’ve tried to relate mainstream principles of language learning to specific affordances in Xerte, so the emphasis is firmly on technology in the service of pedagogy.
I’ve added a number of resources to the website in the last few days, including downloadable how-to guides on authoring in the page types I most frequently use, and a link to my Xerte for Language Learning YouTube channel.
Do add any questions, comments or suggestions to this topic.
Best wishes
Jonathan Smith
