Xerte editor not loading since upgrade

Our App Development Team at UoE have run into an issue whilst upgrading to v3.12.29. They've raised an issue on github #1295 'Template XML retrieval fails if USER_FILES is a symbolic link.' If any of the Xerte development community could take a look, that would be much appreciated. We've not had this issue previously when upgrading. The details are in the github issue but from my perspective when carrying out end user testing, the Xerte editor doesn't load when I create a new project XOT or bootstrap. The Xerte editor also doesn't load for existing XOT projects in my TEST workspace.

Yes, we've seen the issue being raised. There is a simple patch, but the situation will get worse in the near future, so thinking about a good permanent solution along the lines as suggested by your collegue.
