Can't add files via the Media Browser

I was just about to rectify some projects by adding a stylesheet. However, when I hit the import button and get the Media Browser pop-up I notice that it does not allow me to upload anything. The upload icon is greyed out. Really bizarre and can't work out what causes this.
Anyone has a solution, please?
