Hi Xerte community,

Is there a brief short document available providing instructions on how to navigate Xerte to meet various accessibility needs. Very short instructions to give to end-users.

For example:
Instruction 1: To close an open window select the CTRL key and W key simultaneously.

Instruction 2: The best screen-reader to use with Xerte is ??? (Narrator, NVDA, JAWS etc)

Instruction 3: Drag and Drop activity - Using the keyboard, you can use the keyboard Tab key to move to the descriptive word, confirm selection of the word using the Spacebar key and select the Tab key to move the selection point to the facial image with expression and then press the Spacebar or Enter key on the keyboard to confirm your selection.

Instruction 4: Turn on MouseKeys.

Awareness that other additional tools may be required for accessibility with Xerte.

Thank you in advance for any short guides/tutorials (one sentence instructions) covering the basics, which you may have.

Best regards
Anne

Hi Anne
Thanks for starting this thread. It might be nice to pool all our available 'advice' to users on the various page types. For instance, the 360 page requires a bit of guidance which I wrote for my pages like so:
When you land on a 360 page, you can drag the photo to look around, then click on icons to interact with things that have been tagged.

(refresh page first or use when you first land on a 360 page)

Tab to focus on the picture, then arrow key around.

Tab again + Enter = zoom in

Tab again + Enter = zoom out

Tab again + Enter = full screen

The next tab will highlight an icon if it's visible on the screen. Enter to view the contents. Esc to close the pop up window.

Tab to get to the next icon that's visible. If not, arrow key around until you find something else to interact with.

If anyone else has instructions you use on certain page types, we could start collating all this advice into a page on the wiki (www.xerte.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=common_features)?
