When installing on a shared server you normally get access to 1 or two specific databases on a shared MySQL server.

You will have to use the name of the database, the specific mysql user associated with that database, and the password of that account in the database setup page of the Xerte setup pages.

The error message indicate that you did not do this, but tried to use the default values.

Hello..

Newbie here. Looks very good tool. want to use it desperately :)

I am having issues in installing. I'm on shared server. IT passes all the checks, but throws the error

"Creating MySQL Database Failed!

Your Xerte Online Toolkits database has not been created! Please investigate the error messages and return to the previous page by pressing the button below!

SQLSTATE[28000] [1045] Access denied for user 'acadey9f_xerte2'@'103.21.58.156' (using password: YES) "

While I have already created the DB, User and password. Entered the same UID & PW & DB name. Still install fails. I have installed other software in same procedure and all of them have succeeded. Am I doing anything wrong? Pls revert. thanks.

Regards,
Sri

Hi,

I just tried this myself (not on a shared hosted server, but creating the db first, and a specific user that has only access to that database. It worked fine for me.

Please verify all your settings, usernames and pasword.

I am a bit surprised that the shared hosting service would use an IP address for the MySQL server, in stead of a hostname, but if the IP address is correct, it should work.

Just to add there shouldn't be any problem with a shared hosting install as long as you do create the empty database and user first and then enter those details correctly. If your access is via cpanel or something similar often the database and user will be prefixed by your own username so looking at your previous message the database name is likely to be acadey9f_xerte2 and the mysql username is acadey9f_xerte2

As Tom says it's unusual for the shared hosting to use an IP rather than just localhost for the mysql server - have you tried localhost instead? Or check the configuration for one of your working applications to verify what that uses to connect to mysql.

Thanks to both of you for your suggestion & quick response. I tried all the suggestions mentioned here.

1. Created empty DB and a user name which has access only to that DB first
2. Entered the details with prefix (as I was installing through CPanel)
3. Even though UID & PW matched it is still throwing errors :(
4. Tried with default settings - that is also not working..

Have raised a ticket with the hosting provider to see if he can help. Will keep you all posted.
