I’ve been working with the core Xerte Community since I retired from paid employment back in 2022. I’ve mainly been involved in documentation for authors, and over the last 4 years I have played a major role in creating and maintaining the Xerte Wiki
xerte.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=start . I’ve also been involved in testing new features for releases, going back to 3.12.
My background is in English for Academic Purposes, and while I enjoy the work I’ve been doing on documentation, my interest is really in the pedagogy behind online and blended learning. I am still teaching English, on a voluntary basis, but this work doesn’t create opportunities for me to try out and test new Xerte features in the ways I’d like to. As an example, I don’t have access to an LMS/VLE or xAPI, and at present the small number of students I have doesn’t justify me setting up tracking and recording of individual student results. There are also a large number of XOT page types, in which I’ve authored for trials, but which I never use in my teaching.
I’m looking to get involved in a project which will enable me to either work collaboratively to produce learning materials in Xerte or train/support staff learning to author in Xerte. Initially, I’m offering 30 hours of my time free of charge, which would be spread over 2 months. After those 30 hours, we would review the situation and if both parties feel the arrangement is worth continuing, then that is an option.
