Hi,

We've been running a Xerte server long enough that we're starting to get requests from teaching staff to update projects embedded into VLE courses where the original author is unknown. I can easily find projects where the author is known, but increasingly I'm being asked to locate projects without any helpful details other than the project url.

Looking at the management view for our xerte installation I know how to find a project within the Users Projects tab, but armed with just the projects number via it's URL I'm a bit stuck.

Currently on Xerte X if that's any help?

Any suggestions for how to find these projects?

Thanks,

Martin

Hi Martin
When I look at the source code of a project and search for user-files I can see the path to the folder where the files are stored - and this has the user name of the author (in our institution). Hope this helps.
Cheers

Hello Yvonne! Hope you're well?
Ah, yeah - that's really helpful. I should have thought of that :)

Hi
do you have direct access to the server files? If so and you know the project ID you could browse or search for that ID in the USER-FILES folder and the sub folder will show you the username of the creator of that project. Alternatively if you have access to the database you could also search for the project ID in template details to identify the creator_id and then use that to search for the creator details.

Hi Ron,
Thanks - I don't currently have access (just the management portal), but this goes quite a way to my argument I should. Thanks.

Hope you get it sorted. If you ever want to get together to talk Xerte I'd be happy to - especially if you've got any experience with xAPI! I'm well, hope all is good with you :)
