We're currently preparing an update to v3.12 and noticed that the social media icons in boostrap projects have disappeared. Our developer discovered that the AddThis service has discontinued (www.addthis.com/) which is likely the cause, but wondered if there are plans to remove this from core code or replace it?

It looks like the missing social media icons are due to AddThis being discontinued, which likely affected Bootstrap projects relying on it. A quick fix is to replace AddThis with ShareThis or AddToAny, both offering customizable sharing buttons. Alternatively, you can manually add Font Awesome icons with share links for more control.
