Hi Jaimon,

Any joy trying a different browser or ensuring that client-side cookies are enabled?

Also, just a thought but what is the webhost and does the xot install co-exist with any other application that uses sessions (i.e. something like wordpress, drupal etc that allow you to login?)

Regards,

John

I have cookies enabled in all the browsers, and the problem occurs even when I log in from different computers. However, it does not happen always. Are there any settings within the Xerte installation that can resolve this?

Thanks,
Jaimon

I'm getting this on our install as well. I haven't managed to see a pattern yet, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. It does seem to happen if I log into managment.php, or log in as a different user, but sometimes it just 'happens'. I've noticed it more when I've been using it quite a bit in the course of a day, I've not noticed it so much when I come along and log in once in a while.

Logging out and back in works sometimes. Eventually you can always coax it back into life by logging in / out / clearing cache etc, but it's a bit of a pain.

My webhost is lampnetworks. And yes, the XOT installation does coexist with a Wordpress installation, each with different databases.

Thanks,
Jaimon

I'm getting the same problem, seemingly random but not every time, 3 different browsers has no effect.
Logging out and logging back in (usually) fixes it.
Annoying.

Hi,

I'm thinking that this is related to your upload media issue and the error message on the Media and Quota tab... all 3 things are linked to server sessions which maintain your login across the different windows and during upload (for security).

Personally I've not seen the issue on any of my installs, although as Julian says, he has and one or two others have reported similar intermittent issues, but as yet we haven't been able to recognise any common ground, server settings or anything that would cause this. It must be a server setting or something that is not being picked up or blocked by the installer as there are hundreds of installs all working without reporting this problem...

Therefore the more info we have about both your systems the more chance we will have of solving this, mainly, but not exclusive, these things would be a useful start:

MySQL version (if known)
PHP version (if known)
Browsers tried
Version of XOT (found at /version.txt)
php.ini settings

It would also be useful if when you experience it again, if you could logout, clear your browser's cache, refresh the page and login again and see if the error persists.

Thank you for your patience while we try to debug this annoying issue.

Regards

John
