Hi everyone,

Good news! Since correcting the import path setting in the database, I have just had one of my users confirm that they can import content so this now seems to be working : )

Thank you Tom for all of your help with this thus far.

Tom and I did send a few more private emails about this and publishing was mentioned. I've since tried publishing on the old system but nothing appears to happen. Just in case it did 'actually' publish I tried exporting the same template and importing on the new system but this has made no difference.

Any further help or suggestions with getting the templates from the old system to import onto the new system would be very much appreciated : )

Hi,

Sorry to raise this again but I was just wondering if there was any further news on this and what options there are available for trying to get some of this other content imported onto our XOT system?

Thanks

Craig

Hi Craig,

Sorry, not sure from the discussion where you are with this, but it seems that Import now works on the new system yet Export doesn't work on the old system? Is this right?

Is there a lot of content? Do you have access to both server's filesystems?

BACKUP BEFORE PROCEEDING IN CASE SOMETHING GETS MESSED UP

At a push you can make note of the id of the content to migrate (on the old server) and go into /USER-FILES and into the folder with that id. Make a copy of the media folder and data.xml/preview.xml files

Then go to the new system and create a new Learning Object and make note of the new id. Then do the reverse, go into USER-FILES (on new server) and place the media folder and xml files there.

Then go back to the new server Workspace and click edit or preview (with the new LO selected) and you should get the migrated LO.

A bit time consuming but manageable if you only need to transfer a few.

John

Hi John,

With only inheriting this system fairly recently it was difficult for me to know if the export on the old system was actually broken or not. It would produce files but it seemed that possibly the content wasn't being pulled into it.

I hadn't realised that something as simple as copying the raw files from the user files area over to the new system would work. I've just tested this and it seems to have worked fine. Luckily there aren't too many that I need to move over so I'll go with this method on this occasion as this particular move 'should' be a one off.

Thanks for you help.

Tom, thanks for the help with troubleshooting the original upload issues also!

Craig
