We're trying out the sub-template upload function on our test server before we upgrade to the most recent version on our live server, and we can't seem to get the upload to actually work.

I can select a file and fill out the text fields, but clicking the "Upload" button doesn't work. Looking in the network tab of Firefox's developer tools, I can see that the form submit works and does a POST to website_code/php/management/upload.php, but the HTTP status code coming back from that is 500 Internal Server Error. instead of 200 OK.

I'm not sure why it's failing at that point...does anyone have any ideas/tips/pointers for this?

Hi
Just a guess but the following might be the issue. This is a bit of a departure from original set up guidance where only USER-FILES and import need to be writable because in this case the sub-template files need to be moved to the modules folder. So assuming you're on linux is the modules folder writable by the web server user e.g. Apache?

Try that and let us know?

Hi, Ron.

I tried changing the permissions on the modules directory, but still no luck. Is there a subdirectory it's trying to write to under modules?

Hi Tom
did you try changing the permissions on modules and all of it's sub-directories?
At the moment if you really want to limit what you make write-able then I think specifically it's \modules\xerte\templates\ that probably needs to be written to by the web server user account.

No luck--I've made the entire modules directory and all of its children writeable just as an experiment, and I'm still getting the 500 error.

Error 500 indicates a serverside error. Can you check the webserver error logs, for any php error, that would help us identify the issue?
