I have followed the normal process for exporting a XOT for offline access however when I unzip the files and then try to open index.htm I get the error "the project data has not loaded." We are running v2 at the moment and I have previously exported XOT for offline access without any problems however nothing has changed.Operating system Win10.

Steps to replicate
1. Open XOT LO properties - export - "Export with Javascript (a.k.a HTML5) Engine, click on Get deployment zip.
2. Extract zip file to a new folder.
3. Double click index.htm to open XOT LO.
4. Error message "the project data has not loaded"

Any clues?
If you can use Lego, you can use Xerte

Hi Alison,

What browser are you using (name and version)? I suspect that this is due to browser restrictions on the loading of xml files locally.

Try in Chrome, IE and Firefox to see if you can see any difference. You may get a popup where you have to confirm that you wish to continue and will need to select yes.

This is also the reason why we introduced a special offline export in version 3. So if you need offline access a lot, you should also consider to upgrade your installation.

If you are stuck using v2 at your institution then once it is created (if you need to be able to collaborate etc) you should be able to export it and import it into a v3.2 install setup in Xampp and then Export using the Offline option to make this work and get the benefits of updates to page models. It's a bit of a convoluted process though.

There are new page models in v3 though as well as a Decision Tree template so if you can convince your institution to upgrade to v3.2

We are having trouble with the special offline export. It won't play in Chrome, IE or Firefox. We have traced the issue to a cross-origin security issue within all three browsers. Only safari would open the index file as it has laxer security. I'm keen to be able to use the offline facility, but I think it may need some adjustment to the export package at Xerte's end to get around browser security safely.

What Xerte version are you using and what project template type are you using?

At the moment the offline export option only exists for the xot template not the bootstrap template but the offline export option should work fine in the browsers you mention. Are you certain that the offline option was chosen rather than just archive? Newer releases name the export type as part of the file naming.

The normal export option does fall foul of browser security but usually works ok in Firefox.

You are extracting the zip before opening index.htm?

Just some thoughts...
