Hi,
I installed Xerte on a PC using XAMPP running Windows 11 Pro
The installation went fine and on the local PC I can open and use Xerte
I added the MySQL port to the firewall for Public and Private

What I would like to do is allow other PCs to access Xerte and create courses using a shortcut like computer name[slash]xerte
I have added users to Xerte and can log in as the user on the localhost

I have created a shortcut on another PC and I can log in to Xerte but when I try to create a project, I don't get the Project Name box to appear and can't get anything else to work
I have researched somewhat about MySQL and added a user in MySQL with ALL PRIVILEGES and set the Host Name to %
If the user clicks Logout nothing happens

During the Xerte install for the DB it is pointing to localhost
In the database file it is pointing to 127.0.0.1
I tried using the IP address of the machine and the computer name with and without \\ and Xerte gives an error during setup
I edited the database file and put --h and the IP address and when I went to Xerte it says "Xerte is installed. Delete database.php and rerun setup"


Can someone provide some guidance on what I may be doing wrong or lead me in the right direction?

You don't need access to the db from other PC's. So you can close the firewall again for MySQL and 127.0.0.1 is fine as well.

I suspect that the site_url in the settings of Xerte (on the Site tab in the management.php is still pointing to 127.0.0.1 or local host and that will not work. That needs to be the public domainname of your PC and port 80 needs to be open.

The site url should include the path starting from htdocs as well. So suppose you place xerte in a folder called xot, the site_url should include xot as well. (http://<domain of pc>/xot

I went to the management page and changed the site URL and now remote stations can log in and out.
Also they can create new projects.

Hi Tom,
I am trying to add a multiple choice quiz to a Online Kit project.
I see people talking about going to Interactivity and Quiz.
I don't have or see this Quiz module in my install.
Can you explain how to get this?
I need to add 5 review questions after each chapter. Some need to be graded to continue and others do not.

When you edit a project you end up in the Xerte wizard:



You insert pages by pressing the + sign. Also, note that there is a scrollbar in the interactivity section

Also, this only works for projects of type 'Xerte Online Tookits'. The Bootstrap template does not have interactivities. If you need aquiz in a bootstrap template you can create the quiz in a Xerte Online Toolkist template, and embed that in the Bootstrap template.
