Hi
I'm in the process of learning to use Xerte and have a test site working and I'm fiddling about with it. With regard to sharing - when I checked the 'going live' help page it had a few options. They all related to providing access either to the original Xerte project or by 'giving a project'. Is there a way to bundle up the project and make it available to run on a completely different website as an independent object; or would that site have to upload a Xerte installation to its site and then import the Xerte product to make it run.
Thanks
Brendan

Yes, you can do that with the export function.

You can find it in the properties window ('i' icon) of the Learning Object:

Thanks, Tom
Yes I found that thank you. So to deploy on another web site, I can just package the No 1 Export for deployment, and the reference to a 'VLE' is actually just another website and the package when unzipped will operate as planned using the templates used and resources included? So for example on a WordPress website it would be uploaded as the zip file and dropped into a page or post and then it would just run?
thanks again
Brendan

Unfortunately not, no. That is, installation is not so simple.

There are several options in deploying a Xerte LO:
1. If your Xerte install is public, than make the LO public, an djust embed the link into the other website
2. If your other website is a VLE or LMS that supports SCORM, export as a SCORM package and import the package into the VLE/LMS
3. Otherwise, export as a deploment zip, and unpack in a folder on the webserver of the other website and setup a link to the indec.htm file with that folder.

You can make a zip export and unpack it and put it on a website. Users can use the learning object via the index.php in the relevant folder. This way of working for many learning objects does cost a lot of space because about 95% of the zip is identical to all exported zips.
If you work on an external website, you can make the learning object public via acces and give the link that appears to others who can then access it.
