Using Internet Explorer

For some time now, Xerte doesn't seem to work with Internet Explorer 9 or 11.
For example, when going to xerte.uwl.ac.uk the portal displays as per the attached image. Also, when opening a learning object in the above mentioned IE versions the interface displays incorrectly (see 2nd attached image)
Could someone please confirm whether there is an issue with IE and if there is a solution?

I cannot guarantee IE 9, but IE11 should work.

Any errors in the browser console (press F12 to open)?
Do other browsers work correctly?

Does clearing the browser cache help?
