Hi,
Sorry if this is obvious I'm quite new to this. I'm trying to install xerte on cloud hosting using cpanel. I create a Mysql database and user using the MySQL® Database Wizard. Use localhost as the hostname and enter the database name, user and password in the appropriate areas. When I finish the install I get the text below
"Sorry, the system cannot connect to the database at present. The mysql error is No database selected"
Any ideas?
Many thanks

Hi

Check that your root folder was writable and that database.php was written correctly (your hostname, database name, user, password should be there)

If not then delete database.php and go through setup again and check while on page 3 and manually enter details to database.php if required. Then go onto page4 and database tables should be created.

Regards

John

Hi John,
Thanks a million John. Editing the database.php seems to have done the trick. Unfortunately i've run into a new problem. Now my URL *****/xerte leads to this page (see screen shot attached). Is this right? Do I need to sort out authentication? If you have any pointers on how to proceed I'd really appreciate it.
Kind regards,
Karl

Sorry, just in case it's not clear. Only the New Folder button is active, all others greyed out.

Hi Karl,

No there is definitely something wrong there, it looks like some files are either missing or haven't loaded properly.

Did you set the domain/path correctly when you went through setup to include the /xerte part?

Thanks for your patience John. I reinstalled and it looks much better now. All functionality seems to be there. I'm logged in as "guest user" and I'm unable to log out or create new users? I suspect this is because I haven't set up authentication properly. If you have any ideas on that it'd be great but you've already gone above and beyond with your support, much appreciated. You'd be well within you rights to tell be to go read the documentation :)
Enjoy your weekend!
