I'm using XOT stand alone on my laptop.
Now I want to install XOT on the schoolservers/-network. Does I have to use xampp, or does I have to do so in another way?

No, it's best not to use XAMPP for a server install.

First you need to get some server webspace on a Windows (harder to get permissions right) or Linux (easier) server and a MySQL database (could be on same server). You will need to know the URL to get to the server space for the next bit.

Unpackage the zip from Resources and then run http://URL/setup

You'll then need to follow the instructions which will check for folder permissions etc and setup database.

There are more detailed instructions in the "documentation" folder in the zip.
