Help neither upgrade or clean install lets me create learning objects using Xerte X

I have been using Xerte 3.5 happily on a local installation, but thought an upgrade to the new X version might help with a few problems (quizzes don’t work properly on iPads)

I tried an upgrade so I could easily keep my existing learning objects, but although it showed my projects it wouldn’t load them or let me create new ones
So then I tried a new install with all the defaults as automatically set by the installer. The install programme said that everything was OK.

I can create folders but not learning objects. When I click a project template and enter a name nothing happens.

Xerte is installed in c:/xampp/htdocs/xertetoolkits
I access it using Google Chrome http://localhost/xertetoolkits/
PHP is 7.1.11
I am running Windows 7
I use the Xerte Online Toolkit project templates (Bootstrap doesn't work either)
As it is my own PC there are no authorisation issues that I am aware of.

Did you run the DB upgrade procedure?

Just navigate to http://localhost/xertetoolkits/upgrade.php

Beantwoord door LindaM13 in topic Xerte X can't create LOs - installation seemed OK
Hi Tom

I ran upgrade.php when I tried to upgrade my current version of Xerte, that was when it would let me see my existing learning objects but wouldn’t let me edit them or anything else. I hadn’t run it for the clean install as I didn’t think that was needed.

I’ve now run upgrade.php on the new installation with two folders in but it still wouldn’t let me create learning objects.

So I deleted everything in the xertetoolkits folder and reinstalled from the download zip file. San setup, accepted all the defaults again. The only warning was for “PHP mail”, but it said that only mattered if I used PHP mail and I don’t. The only thing I added was the admin account user name and admin account password. I ran upgrade.php and it said the database was fine, it just deleted some files from some themes.

Again I can create folders – see attached screen shot, but when I click on the create button nothing happens. I checked the user files and there is nothing there apart from the three files put in from the download
C:\xampp\htdocs\xertetoolkits\USER-FILES\.htaccess
C:\xampp\htdocs\xertetoolkits\USER-FILES\index.html
C:\xampp\htdocs\xertetoolkits\USER-FILES\readme.txt

What zip file did you use? Latest Xerte X from the community website?

Let me know, and I'll try to replicate.
