Unable to login as admin (db authentication)

I successfully installed Xerte Online Toolkits on a web server. Authentication is set up to be through db. However, when trying to login as admin, nothing happens when I click the login button. I've triple-checked the username and password, and am otherwise not seeing any errors.

I know that the following is in the guide's FAQ, but it is not clear what the first answer refers to:
Q: I cannot log in as administrator
A: The administrator account only works on management.php, not index.php
A: You did not set admin_username and admin_password when setting up the site

Am facing the same issue and am a first time user. Please assist me in sorting this.

Please see above. You cannot use the admin credentials to login on th enormal login page. Only on the management.php page.

There you can create users (if you chose to use Db authentication)
