xAPI

We're trying out xAPI for the first time and although we can see the dashboard in Xerte, we're not currently seeing any data being reported there. Whilst my Developer colleague works through the LRS setup to check all is right, I thought I would ask some basic questions. (I've watched recordings of past conference sessions about xAPI but still wondering if I've correctly understood how it should work).

Does xAPI only report back to the dashboard if the project has been shared via LTI in a VLE (we have Moodle)?
Or can we share the xAPI generated link for the project with users, and the dashboard should report any results?

The link should either be an LTI link or the xapi_launch.php link.
In the latter case the individual is not recognised but recorded as being part of a group. The group name can be changed in the URL.

- xAPI should be enabled for the LO in the properties of the LO
- Either the LRS credentials need to be filled in when configuring xAPI for the LO, or they need to be set in the management page in site->xAPI
