Xerte User Metrics

Hello all,

How do you gather and report user metrics within Xerte? Managing this manually for a small user base is doable but certainly not scaleable across an instituion. I'd like a way to report on the following:

Number of users
Number of active users (those with projects)
Number of LO's
Number of public LOs
Number of LOs set to private
Number of plays per LO.

Any institutions out there willing to share how they report on Xerte user metrics? Is the only way to report on this via the database?

At the moment there's nothing inbuilt that can do this (outside of looking directly at database). It would be great if this kind of thing was added to the management pages though. We're meeting in January for a 'hackathon' so I'll bring this up then. I think there are a lot of features that could be added to the management pages which would be really useful so if you can think of any more then please let us know

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, this would definitely be very useful. Certainly at my institution there is an expectation of reporting on user metrics to determine how well a service is used. I don't have access to the database so would need to put in a request for someone to extract that information and that has cost implications.

Besides these:
Number of users
Number of active users (those with projects)
Number of LO's
Number of public LOs
Number of LOs set to private
Number of plays per LO.

I'd also like to see metrics on:
Number of LOs set to shared
Number of Exports and type of Export


Ability to export that information as a .csv file would be good too.

If I think of anymore before January, I'll let you know.

How did the "hackathon" go in January? Did the group get a chance to look at analytics that could be set-up on the management pages?

We did discuss improvements to the management pages at the hackathon although I have to admit I had forgotten about the metrics side of things. We were looking mostly at the user/project admin side of things as that is pretty tedious to do at the moment. I'll add all of the things from this thread to the list we made of things that need sorting. I'm not sure when this is likely to be done though as I don't tend to get involved with that side of the code.
