Hello Xerte users

We have a member of staff leaving the college who is the owner of lots of LOs. We would like to give ownership to another colleague, but not making a copy of the LO. When I logged in as admin, should I simply select the new owner from the drop-down list? (see atttachment)

Is there a way as administrator to give ownership of multiple Los to someone else in one go?

Any advice appreciated. ;-)

Peter

There doesn't appear to be an attachment but yes this is an option via the management area and I'm always surprised that we don't get more questions about this because it surely must be a regular need given how long Xerte Online Toolkits has been in use now.
But what version are you using? It might be worth making sure that whoever you are going to transfer ownership to doesn't currently have shared editor access to the same project(s) e.g. get that planned owner to unshare their access before you change ownership to them. This was an issue fixed in an update but if your version isn't very recent I would advise this precaution or upgrade before changing ownership.
It's one at a time I'm afraid there isn't any built-in bulk change of ownership.

Thanks Ron
We are using Xerte 3.3. Could I just change ownership without checking editing rights?

Cheers

Probably but I'd suggest try with one first or you should be able to quickly create a test case with a colleague e.g.
1. Create a test project with your own account and then share editing access with a colleague that you can quickly check with.
2. Use the management page to give them that project (It says give via management but is really change ownership)
3. Check both your workspace (after refresh it should have disappeared) and get them to check theirs (again after refresh they should be owner not shared editor) and check that they can edit the project correctly and perhaps share editing access back with you.
If that works all should be ok and the ID's and other properties of the changed projects will remain the same however if the new owner sees a strange looking double icon alongside the project and can't edit it then your install doesn't include the fix.
