Showcase

Do you have examples of interesting Xerte projects that you would be happy to share with us? Or examples where particular page types have been used in innovative ways? Perhaps you have examples of using Xerte in some of the following ways:

- Digital storytelling
- Student generated content
- Micro learning
- Distance learning

We are looking for inspiring projects to include in the showcase area of the new Xerte website. Please add links to your projects or get in touch with us below if you are interested in contributing to the showcase.

Project Title and link: Student Guide to Video Assignments
Number of plays: 1080 (1 month stats)

For the past few years support for video assignments at the University of Edinburgh Business School have consisted of one hour sessions with the Technology Enhanced Learning team, with guides and links uploaded to Blackboard Learn course/s. Finding a suitable time and place to run these sessions was proving problematic. We decided to put everything that was covered in the one hour sessions into a digital resource for the students to access at any time. Drop-in sessions a couple of weeks before a video assignment deadline are still offered for those who require assistance.

A month since the resource was deployed and we have 1080 plays and academics report less queries from students about their video assignments.

Takeshi attended the webinar and I wasn't able to. We have a number of Xerte LOs based round learning English grammar and developing listening skills. I have no idea whether we have used page types in innovative ways, but we'd be happy to share some of these LOs... when we can work out how to do this! At the moment they are hosted in Blackboard, but we have plans to put them on a publicly-accessible website.

One thing we are planning to do is to embed links to the grammar LOs within QuickMarks in GradeMark/Turnitin, so that in providing feedback on student written work, students can get straight into explanations and exercises related to their language errors. When we have done this and we get some feedback we'll share it.
