Hello,
I am using XERTE 3 for creating some materials and I have some problems when I want to show external pages o flash resources.
I add the option <> embed content and I copy and paste the url address of a web-page, but the web-page is not showed in the project. It seems there is not a mistake in the code but it does not work.
It happens the same with flash resources.
Is there some advice or rule to follow for this option?
Thanks in advance!
Cristina Fuertes

Is your installation accessed via https rather than just http?
What browser are you using?
If your installation is https try viewing your LO via Internet explorer and you should see a prompt asking you to allow non-secure content and if you allow the embed content page will display. In other browser like Chrome you don't get a prompt and just a blank iframe.

Dear Ron,
I have check the project with IE at home and it is work, the problem for us it is in our school we use only open source software, so we use Ubuntu system and we only use Google Chrome and Firefox as browser. There are the rules of the school.
There is any kind of solution for this?

Thanks,

Hi Christina
you didn't answer the question: Is your installation accessed via https rather than just http?
If it is https I suspect the external sites you are trying to embed will need to be added as trusted sites for the embedded content to work or somehow change the settings in those browsers to prompt in the same way that IE does.
A simpler option for you would be to use the new window page or just a hyperlink to open the external content in a new window rather than embedded.
This isn't really a Xerte problem specifically - it's because you are trying to display non-secure content within a supposedly secure page.
If your xerte install address isn't https then try clearing cache/offline files and see if that helps.

Dear Ron,
you are right, sorry about that.
Our installation accesses via https.

Thanks,
Cristina
