I can't seem to insert an audio file that will play as soon as the page is "run" and where are the settings for the various parameters like wait till done, speed of playback etc. I don't want a new image with the audio--just audio on the current page.

I’ve run into the auto-play issue before! It's usually a browser security thing rather than a Xerte bug. Try adding the audio via the Media tab in the page editor rather than as a separate image-audio page. That way it stays on the current page. If you don't see the 'Auto Play' checkbox, look for the 'Optional Properties' button to add it in!
