Links to xerte actions don't work

I installed XoT3 on an Ubuntu server. During install I installed xerte so it can be reached at xerte.domain.tld/xerte
I use network authentication using LDAP/Samba. Xerte is only facing the local network for now and in local DNS xerte.domain.tld is added and points to the internal IP address of the server.
On the LAN I can load the login page of XoT3 just fine and can log in with my network credentials too.
However, as soon as I am logged in, clicking the xerte action links (create new directory, create new learning object using bootstrap or other template and even logout) do not work. Nothing happens.
The other links to external pages (OSI, Apereo and Xerte community) do work.

Anyone has an idea what is happening here? How do I troubleshoot this?

Normally this indicates that the url in the site_details does not correspond with the actual URL.

Are you getting errors in console (Press F12 in chrome for example, and look for any messages in the console tab, when you try to press the links.)

I will check that out when I am back at school.
If your suggestion is the case, where (what file and location + line in the file) do I correct this?

Normally you should be able to adjust it in the management.php page.

If that doesn't work you have to edit the sitedetails table 'site_url' column.

I'm facing the same problem on a XoT3 over Debian7 container (accessible via xerte3.ioc.cat/xertetoolkits/ ). Everything seems to work, but I can't create any item into the environment.
On the console, I found a "TypeError: tree is null" message wherever I try to create something.
I've also checked that site_url in sitedetails column points to correct URL ( xerte3.ioc.cat/xertetoolkits/ ).

Do I'm missing something important?

Just a hunch: check if site_url points to https/xerte.domain.tld/xertetoolkits and not http /xerte.domain.tld/xertetoolkits since the non https version gives "Internal Server Error"
