Database not on localhost

Setup failed at one of the early steps for me, with a problem connecting as the specified user.

It seemed to want php_value mysql.default_host <whatever> in an .htaccess (LAMP server), because if this value is not defined it defaults to localhost for mysql_connect.

Just in case it's useful.

Is that the latest 2.1?

I'regurarly install XOT on LAMP with MySQL on a different server, and it has never failed for me on that particular error.

Downloaded two days ago so should be latest.

It seemed stuck and to progress when I set the value, after seeing on php.net:
"..If the PHP directive mysql.default_host is undefined (default), then the default value is 'localhost:3306'. In SQL safe mode, this parameter is ignored and value 'localhost:3306' is always used. .."

Is the correct server mentioned in database.php?

If not, then somthing went wrong during installation. You should be able to fill it in there. You shouldn't have to change it in php.ini

I didn't check database.php at the time. It might well be something else went wrong- we'd been going back and forth already, and I think we'd confused the session. Sorry, not a great issue report. Anyway, it's all installed and looking happy now!
