Cannot duplicate projects

Hi, since upgrading from 3.11 to 3.12 a few months ago, it appears that "Duplicate" projects function is not working correctly on our installation. A new "Copy of ..." entry with a new ID is created in the Workspace, but when previewed it is completely blank and the editor will not load either. This has been tested on projects by the creator, in a fresh browser instance.
For info, the upgrade was done the "easy" way, unzipping/overwriting the Xerte folder on the server with the new files, and running upgrade. Creating new projects from scratch still works ok.
Any advice on how to address this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What version of 3.12 are you using? I just tried the lastest 3.12 (v3.12.33-2) and that seems to work fine.

You could also set $developer to true on line 43 of the file config.php and check error_logs/debug.log and your normal apache error logs for errors.

Thanks Tom. I'm using 3.12 (v3.12.33-2) too. I looked at my log file in error_logs and found these with a "major" error from when I tried to duplicate ID 2227 and it created the blank ID 2251:

I guess there is some issue with file permissions? Can you advise what permissions I should check? Many thanks.

The folder USER-FILES should be writable by the user that runs Apache
On Ubuntu that would be user www-data.
