I entered JavaScript code in the script section and when I published, I got a session expired error telling me to log in again and I did lose all my work. How do I prevent that?
Thank you.

The session expire error normally should not occur as long as you have the editor open (starting from Xerte 3.12) but by default a session expires after about 24 minutes.

It also might indicate an error or other issue. Do you see any error in de browser console (F12)

Thanks for the response. No, there's no error with F12. It seems to not be a function of time. I am also having trouble uploading my saved files from a previous working install that I saved prior to the fresh install. I'll check the web to see if I can find a solution that others with the upload problem may have had.
I get the time out error both when I include a code snippet and when I use the script option.
Thank you for your help

My mistake! There was an error. I got a 403 (denial) error. . it wouldn't run xerte/editor/upload.php.1
I assume that is because the htaccess file prohibits php files. What do you suggest I do?
Thank you.

There shoudl be no .htaccess file prohibiting the excution of php files for that folder. There is an .htaccess file in the xerte installation that prohibits a file listing.

And there is a .htaccess file in the USER-FILES folder prohibiting the execution of php code (and other files).

Thanks,Tom.
Should this code be in the index file of the user files folder?
<html>
<head>
<title>Directory listing blocked</title>
</head>
<body>
<h1>Directory listing blocked</h1>
</body>
</html>
