Auto-play option missing in Audio Slideshow page

I tried to use the Audio Slideshow page type and I saw in documentation from Durham University that there may be an "Auto-play narration" option, but I don't have that option. Was that page type customized by Durham University, or is there something wrong with my installation?
If it was customized, could I do this customization, too? It would be just so much better.

For the sync points to work, the audio file needs to be specified in the "Sound" field. If I put it under "Narration", the slides won't change at the sync points. I need the file specified under "Sound" field to start auto-playing. But there's no option for it.

That's because auto-play is an accessibility no-no. The user should be in control.

That depends on the use case and it should be a decision of the creator. And why is this option available with narration? It's inconsistent.
If it has been removed for this reason, is there any way to re-add it by customizing the page type? Unfortunately, I am not a developer, but I will see what I can do if I have some guidance. We really need that option. All our existing courses auto-play (using the Advanced Image page type and narration) and users do not like the fact that this course is not auto-playing.
