Blank page on project preview window or project page werd gestart door bragamiguel
Dear all,

Sometime this week when I click on the project preview link or project page link all I get is a blank window. No errors are thrown, just plain html:
<html><head></head><body></body></html>.
Could this be an access issue since im running Xerte under a subdomain (folder in server root). Mind that it was working!

Does this happen with all projects? Installing in a folder or a subdomain should not be a problem!

What has changed? Did you update something? Are there errors in the browser's console (F12) or on the webserver?

Hi Tom! Yes it happens in all projects. I assume it might have to do with Drupal htaccess in the main root. Our Xerte is installed in a subdirectory (also subdomain).
Although I don't understand why it was working until a few days ago. Now when I click the project preview link or project page link I a blank page.
Nothing changed and no errors at all! That's why is so intriguing. I've also added an htaccess line to ignore the subdir but no luck so far.

Well... wsomething has changed obviously (update of Drupal, update of apache2 or whatever).

It would be good to check the access logs and error logs of the webserver.

Can you send a link to a public Xerte object to me, to see if anything comes to mind if I open the link?

Also, what do mean by sub folder (also subdomain)?

Drupal upgrade yes, but would it impact xerte this much?
Yes, an example would be: xerte.o-health-edu.org/play.php?template_id=4.
By subfolder I mean that xerte.o-health-edu is under /xerte/ folder on o-health-edu.org domain.

Hi,

So I've got two theories:
1. A PHP error occurs but the error page configuration is such that no error is shown (should be visable in the web server error log). You can also try to set $developer to true in config.php (of the Xerte install)
2. The web server configuration (or the .htaccess file above the Xerte folder) really messes up the URL's.. I thin kthat's probably what is happening, because if I browse to xerte.o-health-edu.org/setup, I still see the login page (and that should NOT happen. Try to place Xerte in a folder next to the main web site and change the sub-domin configuration accordingly. You will need to change the paths in the database (or management.php) as well.
