Hello,

New Xerte user here. I'm trying to upload xml files via the media browser and keep getting a permission denied error. Any ideas on how I can solve this?

Thanks

Hi
exactly what version of Xerte are you using? Hover over the info icon bottom left of the workspace or visit //yourinstalladddress/version.txt
Also you've mentioned that you're trying to upload via the media browser but from where exactly and for what purpose?
If you can answer those questions we might be able to advise further.

Hi Ron.

I am using 3.9. Very new to Xerte so apologies if my answers aren't very clear. We have received some html files with a linked xml file. The only way I know how to upload images and other files is via the media browser when editing a slide. It turns out that dragging and dropping xml files from the desktop to the media library (via the media browser) works but aren't visible. Going to the media and quota tab of the project properties reveals that the xml files exist and have been copied over. On a different topic, I am trying to overlay multiple choice questions over a full screen video. The problem I'm having is that the video continues after the second question regardless if the user answers correctly or incorrectly. Ideally, I would like to make it so that the user must answer correctly before the video continues. Is this possible?
Thanks,
Rob

Hi
firstly the reason I asked exactly what version you are using is because there were some changes in different 3.11x updates relevant to this. We announced and released Xerte 3.10.5 back in March with important instructions to upgrade as soon as possible www.xerte.org.uk/index.php/en/news/blog/...ailable-upgrade-asap and obviously the instruction now would be to upgrade to the latest revision of 3.11x which is 3.11.11.

So your first step is to upgrade to the latest version which I think includes the changes needed to allow you to use and see the xml files you have uploaded.

Regarding the video and multiple choice question you don't say what page type you are using but again there are significant changes in 3.11x that may be relevant so I suggest you get upgraded and then start that as a new topic.

Thanks Ron. I didn't realize we were that far behind with our version. We'll upgrade and see how that goes. Thanks again for your help.
