Text Entry question type a été créé par Grant_Bailey
Hello,

I am new to Xerte so apologies if my terminology is inaccurate.

My understanding is that the Text Entry question type requires the learner to enter a free text answer e.g. 'The type of law created by judges in the course of determining disputes is known as ___________'. The correctness of the answer is determined by comparing it to a stored value (e.g., in the case of the question above, 'common law').

My questions are as follows:

- can Xerte (either version) accept multiple correct answers for this question type? For example, other correct answers to the sample question above would be 'judge-made law' and 'case law'. In my discipline (law), there is often more than one correct answer to a question

- does Xerte (either version) support regular expressions for this question type? The relevance of this is to allow for acceptable variations in capitalisation and punctuation of the learner's answer (e.g. 'Common law', 'common law', 'common-law', etc.)

I would be grateful for any comments.

Thank you and regards,

Grant Bailey

The answer to your first question is yes, by separating the correct answers by a comma. If a comma happens to be part of the correct answer, you can choose a different separator.

The answer to your second question is no, howvere, you can switch whether the answer should be case-sensitive.

Out of interest, how do you go about choosing a different separator? I recently had to abandon using this page type because commas were part of an answer I needed to include.

It's an optional property (answer delimiter) on the page. If you can't see the optional property panel, click the arrow in the top right of the editor to expand it.

Another issue: when adding distractors, is there any way to change the option delimiter to something other than a space?

Actually, forget that. It seems that you can just use nbsp
