GIF animation

Hi,

I am trying to use a GIF picture file to add to me LO to bring alive a model I am trying to teach. I have made the GIF but it doesn't run in the LO - strangely it does in the authoring tool view?? Any idea??

Can you share a link/example where it isn't working?

.gif animations should work just fine.

Try the following:
Select the project where you have the gif added
Select Properties > Media & Quota
Select the gif in the list of assets then copy the url
Try that url direct in the browser - does the animation show directly like that?

ok so it proves the gif is working as an animated gif and should be working within your Xerte LO too.

What page type have you used and how have you added the gif?
Without being able to view and possibly debug the page it's difficult to comment further.
If you can't share a link then perhaps try different browsers or clear cache etc.

Yes that's what I thought.

I have added it in an advance media page, tried standard text using HTML code and a video page. Strangely when I deleted the video page, it now works!

Ok for anyone else discovering/reading this thread in future...

animated gifs should work in any page where added via an image option e.g. via the upload image option in the form for a particular page or the image button in the toolbar of the editor, but the upload video button in the dedicated video page is only for video (.mp4) and will not play gif if uploaded that way.
