Ron,
Thank you for your reply and help already.
Hi
when you say you moved your installation what steps exactly did you take and what's different if anything between the previous and new server?
Debian server instead of Centos. Path is exactly the same.
I've copied al the files and directories to the new server. Chowned to the right user and group.
Then I renamed database.php and let the setup run to see what I was missing. Then set the database file back.
I've downloaded the zip files for the new version and copied all the files over the existing ones.
I've taken over the entries in Static.php in the new installation.
Upgrade.php has run for the upgrade of the database afterwards.
What authentication method are you using?
Static, just like before. Al the users in the Static.php file.
If the server spec has changed you will need to verify that all the serevr requirements are in place xot.xerte.org.uk/play.php?template_id=81#systemrequirements
All done.
Typically to move an installation from one server to another you need to back up and move both the database and the entire xerte directory.
If the site address will have changed and/or the location of the directory and files then you may need to change those details in the database.
If the authentication method has changed you'll need to make sure that users are logging in with the same username as they used previously.
The upgrade script is required to update the database for a working install it will not account for changes of location to a different server.
HTH
