Hello,

I've just setup a fresh installation and configured LDAP. I've looked at the ldap.php file and I've tested the LDAP settings work outside of Xerte.

This has raised a couple of issues, first I checked the db and noticed there are two tables where LDAP settings are stored sitedetails and ldap. I've checked that both have the correct settings, but why are there two?

The other problem is I've switched on development mode to try and get more detail as to why it's failing and I can see the error "Failed to get template type". Is this stopping everything or a red herring, if a red herring where should I look to see why LDAP is failing?

Thanks
Fran

There are two places for historic reasons. We still need to clean this up.

You should be able to switch on developer mode, and then truy to login again. There should definitely more more information there. I assume your using the latest 3.0 package?

Can you show the complete line that is in the debug.log file?

I am using version 3.0, in config.php I have $development = true;

But there was no tmp/debug.log. I've created the folder and file to see if there was a permissions issue, but nothing is being written to the file. Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks,
Fran

Around line 50 of config.php change define('XOT_DEBUG_LOGFILE', '/tmp/debug.log'); to point to a directory writeable by the Apache user - you might want to change it to the error_logs folder inside the xerte directory.

Ron,

I tried exactly that, still nothing written though. It definitely has access to write there as the first thing it did yesterday when I turned development on was create critical.log and unknown.log with the error I mentioned in the first post.

Did you refresh after making the change?

There's been lots of discussion re ldap over time and usually the issues are with the variation in settings rather than problems with the Xerte code but I know Tom has helped with different scenarios and then improved the code in response to those variations. Try reviewing this thread xerte.org.uk/index.php?option=com_kunena...lang=en&limitstart=0 or searching the forums for ldap and comparing values. I'm not suggesting that you use any of the debugging files in that thread but some of the discussion and example settings might help.
