Installing Xerte with Apps

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but I am unable to find it.

I have downloaded Apps for Mac OS and from there run the Xerte script. Everything seemed fine; I could login as admin (127.0.0.1/xerte/management.php) but not in the actual web (127.0.0.1/xerte).

As a test, I also installed a Wordpress site and both admin and frontend were fine...

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

I don't know Apps, but it seems you have the management page up and running.

I also assume that you chose to use Db Authentication.

If so, please create an account in the management page first (in the Users tab).and use that account to login on xerte itself.

You cannot use the admin account to login on xerte itself. The admin account only works on the management page.

Thanks Tom. Sorry about a mistake in my first message; probably auto-correct. I meant Ampps.
I created a user account. The problem is that the xerte page is blank.
I also downloaded Ampps for Windows to try on my other computer. Same result. Management page is fine, but user one is just a blank page.
I am really puzzled.

Any errors in teh apache error log or the php errorlog.

It might be that you're missing a php extension.

I have now succeeded in running Xerte on PC, both back and front ends. I know it works.

With Mac I'm in the same place I was: admin page works, user page doesn't.
I have also experienced something unusual with Xerte hosted online. I used to run 3.9 without any problems, but after a php upgrade to cater for a new Moodle version, it didn't work any longer. Deleted installation, installed again (through CPanel/Softaculous) and I get a database failed to upload message, both in admin and user pages. I have now installed 3.10: same problem. I would have thought that an automated script installer like Softaculous would not produce such results. In short, I'm very happy that at least I have Xerte on a local network, but very surprised that I cannot run it on Mac or online,

I don't know why you ran into these issues.

Please be aware that we as Xerte community have no idea what softaculous is doing. Softaculous has not contacted the Xerte communite as far as I know.
